Trades Training Initiative
Introduction
The Trades Training Initiative endeavors to upskill existing workers and train new workers in high-wage careers in the building trades. Click to continue reading.
Introduction
Additionally, the EDC started a Youth Trades Training program in partnership with 4H, in an effort to introduce middle schoolers to the trades and their benefit in terms of financial security in our community.
These jobs offer high wages that can support our islands’ families and reduce the drain on social safety net programs. While service jobs offer only around $15.75 per hour (ESD data), construction and building trades can offer wages much more robust (average $31.53), and even higher for skilled trades business owners like plumbers.
